Description
This course will be run by highly qualified and experienced disc golf juniors trainer Jouni Kallio, who is active both with the FDGA and with the Finnish disc golf club JyLi in Jyväskylä. It is intended for disc golf coaches with some experience and qualification, for example from a national coach training programme in their home country. Over the course of three days, Dr. Kallio will cover the basics of running disc golf practices and events for kids, including demonstrations of a variety of drills and games by the local club's junior players. There will be chances to brainstorm together and share the knowledge of the participants as well.
European Dimension
This course is tangentially related to the Erasmus+ DISCKids project. While not actually an activity or output of that project, it was developed by project partners as a supplementary element to DISCKids, to take advantage of the fact that several disc golf coaches would already be travelling to Finland in June for a project meeting.
Expected Outcome
Attending coaches are expected in improve their competences in the following areas:
-creating a curriculum for a disc golf practice for kids
-planning an individual practice
-planning and running competitive events for kids
-planning and running one-off introductions to the sport for kids
-handling various difficulties specific to coaching kids
Certification
a certificate of attendance will be awarded upon completion of the course
