About Massa

Massa is a historic city located in northern Tuscany, close to the Ligurian Sea and at the foot of the Apuan Alps. Known for its elegant architecture and marble heritage, it forms the province of Massa-Carrara together with its twin city, Carrara. The city features a charming historic center dominated by the Malaspina Castle, a medieval fortress offering panoramic views. Massa is also home to several notable squares and palaces, including Piazza degli Aranci, lined with orange trees and bordered by the Ducal Palace.

Its strategic location makes Massa a gateway to both the mountains and the sea. Visitors can enjoy beaches along the Versilia coast, explore marble quarries nearby, or hike in the Apuan Alps. The city combines culture, nature, and a relaxed Tuscan atmosphere, making it an appealing destination for travelers seeking both history and outdoor experiences.
