Description
Sustainability challenges are everywhere and in the small villages it easy to find these challenges and some strategies to overcome them, they are perfect environments to develop sustainable learning in a cooperative way. Students are challenged to use design thinking approaches to solve community sustainability problems. Students will engage with the village, empathizing with problems by visiting the village and some associations. The ideation phase will be developed after and there will be time to present the prototypes.
The methodology will be blended learning with a pre-course online phase, to disseminate information about sustainability, innovation, design thinking and the village, followed by the 4 days f2f and then a follow up validation/evaluation phase.
European Dimension
The sustainability of small communities, away from the big cities, is an European wide problem and the way to develop better live quality in the rural areas would contribute for the global sustainability.
Tentative Program & Schedule
Pre course online meeting
Day 1: Ice breaking, presentation, course framing, village tour
Day 2: Design Thinking approach input, Choosing the groups and challenges, Social Evening
Day 3: Empathising with the challenge, getting data, present it. Ideation phase.
Day 4: Prototype phase, Final presentation to local representatives, Evaluation

About Olhalvo
Olhalvo is a small village that maintains some social activity, has nice squares an impotent church a site seeing, a philharmonic band, ethnographic dance group, a traditional music group that will be involved in the course.
