Description

The course aims at letting the learners understand the tools and their theoretical background, as well as to make them able to choose the best tool for the right person. The Tools are the result of years of therapeutic applications with different populations. Throughout failures and successes, by trial and error, the best practices were selected by the people with special needs themselves and then we have found developers for customized applications. o The main tool is the PaINTeraction system, a customized software based on video and audio feedback of movements. o    Video art therapy o    3D Drawing o    The puzzle of the Self

ATLAS CENTRE

Short Description of the Organisation

Associazione Atlas Onlus was founded in 2016 and is based at Atlas Centre in Perugia, Italy. The Centre is first and foremost a place for inclusion, growth, training and research. We welcome both the so-called normal people, with the difficulties that life brings, and people with severe intellectual and relational disabilities, so that through creativity they can find a deep sense in their life path and achieve a relational dimension. Associazione Atlas Onlus is constituted by volunteers and professionals in the mental health field, clients and family members. A core interest is the use of traditional arts therapies, along with innovative verbal and non verbal communication approaches. Different sensorial channels – sight, hearing, touch – are involved in an integrated way. Each client is offered a cycle of creative labs tailored to their taste, talents and sensory profile. To attain these goals, Associazione Atlas carries out and organizes its activities by promoting the interaction with the local authorities responsible for the development of social services, with schools, with training institutes and university research centres, with the families of users. The goal is to work together to improve educational steps and to reach rehabilitative and inclusive objectives. The Association is running research projects with several Italian Universities. Atlas also aims to support motivation and continuous training of operators and volunteers through weekly intervisions and the organization of practical and theoretical seminars, study days and conferences. Atlas also accepts the challenge of the “digital revolution” to ensure that the new media and new technologies are not tools for isolation but vehicle of expression and deep relationships.
